Well, another season is in the books.  Thanks all for participating.  I will drop you a note in Feb. about the start of the 2009 season.  Have a great offseason!  Van

November 12, 2008
We have one race left to end the season.  Because of lack of funding, next year we will remove the cash component of the competition.  Good luck, and have a great off-season!

June 8, 2008
Just a heads up: we are now over half way to the first payout after race #26 in Richmond.  To date, no team has paid registration (including Vandalay).  When you get a moment, please drop me a check, etc.  Thanks!

We have a new award this week for low score.  Richie's Bad Boys has beaten the previous record of What About Bob (477) with a score of 460.  Be sure to congratulate him!

Congrats to Full Throttle on their performance during this Daytona 500!  Next week, on to California, without a doubt the most interesting race of the year!

We are getting started for the new season.  Of the teams interested in participating I have been collecting votes for and against anchors.  At this time, the votes are for continuing the anchor system.  The only change to anchors will be that you may trade them at any time during the year, and surrender the option to have an anchor.  You still cannot purchase the anchors of other teams.  If you choose not to participate, please let me know on the email link below.  Otherwise... the Daytona 500 is quickly approaching!

Please follow the link to the dice roll site to determine your order to select anchors.  We will not try to do a conference call like last year.  But I will contact you in order, by email to select your anchors.  Please reply quickly so we can get the selection process done early and you can finish selecting your teams well before the start of the race.  Budget this year is a whopping $40,000!

Dice rolling:  Please go to the following site: mailroll.html
The settings should be roll 1 die, 100 sides, nothing added or subtracted, and none of the boxes checked.  The roll should be repeated 1 times, in the box.  The subject of the email should be NASCAR League, and then put in your email address.  Please put my email under the optional email address.  Then you only need to click 'Roll them Bones' once and I will contact you with your the anchors that have been taken, and get your choice for anchor.  If you have any other questions or email changes, just let me know at spersing@charter.net.  Otherwise I look forward to a fun 08!

UPDATE:  The 6 teams with Carl Edwards have been docked the 25 owner points.  The change will be reflected after posting of results from the Kansas race.

Quite a slugfest for the second race in the chase!  Just wanted to post a reminder that at this point you may now trade your anchor.  For those interested, Greg Biffle has been released prematurely from his contract with Pretty Boy Motorsports and may be the perfect driver to add to your lineup.  Have a great week, and enjoy Kansas!

June 11, 2008
Another race down, and another win for Gordon.  Be sure to double check your teams for drivers that failed to qualify.  Good luck in MI!  Also, the 6 teams with Kurt Busch have all been penalized 100 pts. each in accordance with NASCAR's ruling last week.

May 12, 2007 - 0700

Looks like a long time since posting here!  The forums page has now been disabled because of advertising.  It was not used a lot.  If there is much interest in having it back up again, I will set up another page, which will require an outside link, and a password.  Please mail me your thoughts.

On another note, I'm out of town this weekend.  My trades are posted.  Please double check your math on trades.  I will not be back to check that before the race, and if trades are overbudget, none of them will go through.  Have a great Mothers Day!

Well, only 5 to go until the cut.  I think I can speak for Rear View and a few teams not in the top 2, it will be nice to reset the points!  Overall, boring race at Indy until the last lap.  Then my guys went way south.  Just my opinion.  Also, got a little old hearing "how great it is to win at Indy!"  Anyway, I'll save the rest of my bitching until next week, after the second trip to road courses.

June 26, 2006
Ok, update after the first road race is now complete.  Hope you all enjoyed the race and are ready to put some 'real' drivers back into your lineup.  That doesn't mean Robby Gordon, either.

June 5, 2006
Well, the monster claimed very few victims this weekend.  Unfortunately, one of them was JJ.  Nice race with Matt and the golden boy Jimmie Johnson pulls another one from the flames for nearly a top 5.  Next week we're off to Pocono.  Hope you enjoy that big, wide, sweeping front stretch.

May 28, 2006
Another tough week for the guys at the top!  What a mess for the likes of Gordo and Stewart.  Wonder if he should have subbed in Bliss.  Hmm.  Well, maybe next week!

May 15, 2006
The lady in Black is in the books for this year.  Next we're off to the All-Star Event, for another Sat. night.

May 8, 2006
Another one down.  We're headed into yet another Sat. night race.  Hope you guys enjoy this one.  I needed a week like this after my 'exam' at Talladega.

May 5, 2006
This weeks done.  On to Richmond.  All I gotta say.

April 23, 2006
Well, after a rough night for the top qualifiers we're headed out of Phoenix.  After seeing some of the pathetic questions on the 'Cingular' virtual crew chief questions, I've got to start asking some of my own...  After the disappointing finish for the 16, will he be able to bounce back and make top 10 by Richmond?  Feel free to share your thoughts on this in the forums.  Good luck next week at Talladega!

April 10, 2006
Hats off to WAH racing with their consistent performance this week, leading them to the new points lead!  It looks like things just can't get any worse for VAN.  Busch or no Busch, Biffle continues to disappoint and he'll be getting the boot off my team next week.  Your thoughts Dom?  Next we're headed to Phoenix, so enjoy the race.

April 2, 2006
Finally, we can leave that short-track stuff behind and head into the big sweeping turn one of Texas Motor Speedway!  Nice to be done with that stuff, until Darlington.  I can't remeber the last time I've seen so many mechanical problems at Martinsville.  Between the break-downs and the wreckage there seemed to be more attrition this year.

March 27, 2006
Well, I sure took another beating this week with the rookies.  Congratz to A-1, hope you didn't have any booze on the line this week Throttle.  Next we're off to Martinsville for more bangin'.

March 21, 2006
Well, after the rain delay, Kasey came out on top.  Rough days for the likes of Carl Edwards, Bobby LaBonte, and RVM.  Here's hoping we race on Sunday at Bristol!

March 13, 2006
Well, it may be that cheaters can win.  Nice run by Matt and even Jr. didn't look too bad out there.  Next we're off to higher banking and higher speeds at Atlanta.  One item of note: when making trades be sure to use the most current driver values, and of course... enjoy the race!

February 26, 2006
Congratz to Matt as well as Domination on a stellar week.  Clean racing after the Daytona spectacle.  Next week we're off, and then back at it in Vegas.  Have a good week.  So long, from the back of the pack!

Febuary 19, 2006
Well, the 500 is done and speedweeks '06 is in the books.  Nice to see a plate race without the 'big one' for a change.  Maybe they were trying to drive with a bit more respect.  Welcome to all the new teams this year, and our rookie team, Torque Motorsports, leading the way.  Now, off to california!

January 29, 2006

As we head into the 2006 racing season, I find myself beginning to identify with NASCAR and all the changes that they are trying to implement.  A few new things this year, and a few new teams.  First, by participant request, the driver values have been downsized to allow for easier mental manipulation (and hopefully fewer math errors).  Also, when purchasing your teams you will find that money will be a bit tighter to cut back on the number of duplicate drivers.

The format and rules of previous years will continue without too much change.  New this year will be a limit on the number of trades.  You are still able to trade up to three drivers between each race.  However, the total number of trade transactions for the entire season is 50.

Some things never seem to change.  The usual challenges of database management not withstanding, we are anticipating the addition of 6 racers charging for Rookie of the Year, and finding a 'fair' starting value for them is always a bit subjective, but will be done with tried and true methods of the past.  Again this year, my feeble abilities as a web admin. will be tested.  Please, be patient ;)

Be sure to mail me if you want to start a team, or if you participated in the past, and would like a new team name.  Otherwise old names will be carried forward this year.  Best of luck to all!
